Is there a recital or show throughout the year we can participate in?Your students work hard all year in class, and there's no better way to show off their skills than performing in front of friends and families! We offer two optional shows for students enrolled in the 23/24 Season. Celebration of Christmas: December 15 & 16, 2023 Spring Recital: May 31 & June 1, 2024 Our Christmas Show requires extra rehearsals outside of regular class time beginning September 2023. Our Spring Recital works on routines during regular class time beginning January 2024. Interested in more performing opportunities? Check out auditions for DDC Company Teams!
-
Can I sit in class and watch my child? To prevent distractions and allow students to perform their best in class, parents, siblings, and friends are not permitted to sit in and watch class. We invite you to watch our live feed of class located in the Oro Valley lobby or watch through the viewing windows in the Twin Peaks lobby. About every six weeks, we host Observation Week! This allows families and friends to step inside the studio towards the end of class and watch their student up close.
-
Can I enroll in both locations?Yes! Enrollment for all classes is available to all students anywhere. You may enroll in one or both locations. Students who take more than seven classes per week at either/both locations will be charged our unlimited class rate. If you're planning on enrolling at both locations, please be aware while scheduling that you do not double-book yourself!
-
What is the dress code?Every style of dance offers a different dress code for safety and efficiency. Take a look at our Dress Code section to find out what your child needs for class! Here you will find the attire required for each class for both girls and boys and links for purchasing these items on our studio page at DiscountDance.com Students who come to class out of dress code may be asked to observe based on their teacher's discretion. Wearing incorrect attire can cause injury during class- it is important for dancers to consistently wear the correct hair, shoes, and clothing for their class to be able to perform to the best of their ability!
-
How many students are permitted in each class? Our studios can host between 12-30 students at a time depending on studio, class type, and age: Little Movers: 12 student maximum Minis, Juniors, Teens, Seniors: 12-18 student maximum
-
Does DDC have any performance/competition teams?Yes! Our performance teams (Green, Gold, and Pom Teams) perform at events around Tucson such as Roadrunners hockey games, Zoolights, and more. Our Competition Team is made up of a small group of dancers who are interested in taking their training to the next level. This team rehearses weekly, fundraises for events, and participates in 3-4 competitions/conventions per season. Auditions for the 24/25 Season are May 25, 2024 at DDC Oro Valley.
-
How much do classes cost? You can learn more about tuition rates for various classes on our Tuition page under the "About" section!
-
How much are recital fees?Christmas show fees are announced in August 2024 and Recital fees are announced in January 2025!
-
Can I change or drop a class? Not every style of dance is for every child, so we don't hesitate to allow students to try out a variety of styles to see which ones suit them the best! Reach out to the front desk to see options for changing classes. Dropping a class requires a 30 day written notice that can be sent to info@desertdancecollective.com. Outstanding balances within this date range will be charged to the student's account. Please check out our studio policies for more information!
-
What if my child has to miss a class? For students who miss a class due to illness or vacation, a make up class is available. Make up classes must be taken within the season. Contact the front desk for a specific list of make up classes available for your student! It is important that students miss no more than five classes in a school year. This allows the entire class to continue learning at a steady pace and is imperative for learning recital dances.
-
Can my student attend classes at either/both DDC locations?Absolutely! Our Oro Valley location and our Twin Peaks location have two completely different schedules for the 24/25 Season. Students are welcome to register for age/level appropriate classes that best fit their schedule.
-
How do I know what level my student is ready for?We recommend most students start in Level 1 for all classes. Classes such as Acro and Ballet have technical milestones that dancers need to achieve before moving up, and other classes require instructor approval to move into a higher level class. Returning students will receive an email with their class assignments for the next season in May. You can learn more about these levels in the "24/25 Season" section of our website, coming in late May! If you think your dancer is ready to be evaluated for a higher level, please email us: info@desertdancecollective.com
