Dress Code

Why is it important to have the correct attire in dance class?

Alignment

safety

Helps instructors:

  • make technical corrections

  • observe body alignment

  • assess incorrect form 

Helps dancers:

  • prevent injuries

  • move efficiently

Helps dancers:

  • express themselves!

  • respect the art, culture, & history of dance

*Please note that dancers who arrive to class in incorrect attire may be asked to sit out of class.*

Boys: 

  • Athletic shirt and shorts

  • Black ballet shoes and black tap shoes

Girls: 

  • Any leotard, tights, tutus, or skirts

  • Pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes

  • Hair pulled into a ponytail or a bun

BTJ Combo

Girls: 

  • Any color leotard

  • Pink tights

  • Pink ballet shoes

  • Optional ballet skirt

  • Hair pinned in a neat bun

Boys: 

  • White short sleeve shirt

  • Black footed tights

  • Black ballet shoes

  • Longer hair pulled back away from face

Jazz

Girls: 

  • Any leotard, tank top, or form fitting shirt

  • Shorts or leggings

  • Skin-toned jazz shoes

  • Hair fully pulled back away from face

Boys: 

  • Any form fitting shirt

  • Athletic shorts or pants

  • Black jazz shoes

Girls & Boys:

  • Any athletic attire (no street clothes)

  • Tennis shoes strictly for studio use (street shoes can damage floors)
